Dr. Block Went to Medical School to Save Her Daughter
A mother who knows all too well how the traditional medical system can fail a child, Dr. Block was compelled to go to medical school at the age of 39 to save her daughter after doctors made the child ill with inappropriate use of drugs for a bladder infection. Today her daughter is a healthy adult as a result of her mother's determination and devotion. As medical Director of the Block Center, Dr. Block offers patients the same kind of health care she so desperately needed when her daughter was ill.

The Block Center Two-Day Attention and Behavior Program
Attention and behavior problems in children are often mislabeled as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), which is a psychiatric label. Too many children are given this label and prescribed mind-altering drugs without an appropriate medical or educational evaluation. There are many medical and educational problems that can cause attention and behavior symptoms. At The Block Center, a patient receives a comprehensive history and thorough examination. When a child is thoroughly evaluated, it will usually uncover the true reason for the attention and behavior problems. At The Block Center, the underlying causes are treated. When these problems are corrected, the symptoms usually resolve.Families spend two days at The Block Center, and experience a multidisciplinary approach to attention and behavioral problems and learning differences. The on-site program is followed with a structured at-home program designed to improve and enhance behavior, learning and self esteem without the use of drugs.

Dr. Block's philosophy when working with any health problem is to try to find the underlying cause of the problem and fix it whenever possible using the most natural and appropriate treatments instead of just covering the symptoms with drugs.
