Mary Ann Block, D.O. talks about ADHD on Montel Show

Dr. Mary Ann Block on the Montel Williams Show Discussing ADHD, April 15, 2003

Dr. Mary Ann Block says "ADHD is a Label"

I really made my point on The Montel Williams Show talking about this very problem of misdiagnosing children with ADHD. A psychiatrist, also on the show, actually admitted that psychiatrists do not do physical exams or lab work. I hope that parents watching that show realized how important that confession was and how it can affect their childs life and health.

 Allergy Symptoms | Allergies

The symptoms of allergy are most often thought to be runny nose, watery, itchy eyes and sneezing. However, the allergy cells, called mast cells, are found through out the body, including the lungs, the skin, the bladder, the muscles and the brain. This is why each of these body areas can be affected when exposed to certain allergens. One person may get a runny nose, while another gets asthma, and still another gets hyperactivity or learning problems. Studies have found that children with allergies perform less successfully in school than those who do not have allergies. By skin testing one allergen at a time, as is done at The Block Center, the patient and the doctor can tell exactly what part of the body is affected and in which symptoms are caused by each allergen. When the allergens are identified, a treatment plan can then be determined.

Treating ear infections (acute otitis media)

Treating ear infections (acute otitis media) with antibiotics may actually cause the ear infection to last longer and recur more often. It is also well-documented in the medical literature that 80 to 90% of all ear infections will heal entirely on their own. It's important to understand why treating ear infections with antibiotics is no longer always the best option.
