THE BLOCK CENTER TWO-DAY ATTENTION AND BEHAVIOR PROGRAM

Attention and behavior problems in children are often mislabeled as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), which is a psychiatric label. Too many children are given this label and prescribed mind-altering drugs without an appropriate medical or educational evaluation. There are many medical and educational problems that can cause attention and behavior symptoms. At The Block Center, a patient receives a comprehensive history and physical examination. When a child is thoroughly evaluated, it will usually uncover the true reason for the attention and behavior problems. At The Block Center, the underlying causes are treated. When these problems are corrected, the symptoms usually resolve. Families spend two days at The Block Cen, and experience a multidisciplinary approach to attention and behavioral problems and learning differences. The on-site program is followed with a structured at-home program designed to improve and enhance behavior, learning and self esteem without the use of drugs.
